If you’d love to impress your guests by serving homemade scones on your own handwoven willow tray… or perhaps channel your inner Hyacinth Bucket with a beautiful charcuterie platter filled with artisan cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal fruits .. then join us for this relaxed creative Weave a Willow Tension Tray in the Walled Garden!
The workshop is on Saturday 16 August 2025 10.00 – 16.00
You’ll spend the day with talented local willow artist Heather McDermott, who will guide you through all the traditional weaving techniques required.
This workshop is suitable for adults of all skill levels as no previous experience is needed, just manual dexterity and a love for crafting and nature.

You will also have the opportunity, weather permitting, to visit our Salley or Saille Garden, where we grow our willow to learn about the sustainable and renewable qualities of willow. Please come suitably dressed. 🌿

As restoration works are underway, the main entrance to Old Mill House may not be wheelchair accessible.
Access the Craigdarragh Road via the A2 Belfast/Bangor carriageway and follow the signs for Helen’s Bay.
Drive down the Craigdarragh Road for 0.8 miles. You will see the Walled Garden on your left.
Take the next left hand turn down a laneway passing houses to your left
Turn left at the right angled bend and drive into the car park outside the Walled Garden.
