Join us to weave a rustic willow obelisk sculptures and bring lasting structure, drama, beauty and interest to your garden for years to come.šŸŒŗšŸ„€

Guided by willow artist Heather McDermott, and taking inspiration from the beauty of Old Mill House garden, you will create a large willow obelisk , each one a distinctive sculptural piece for the shrub borders, flowerbeds or planted containers in your gardens. Obelisks can be striking focal points in your garden to support permanent climbers such as roses or clematis or moved around the garden for annuals like Sweet Peas

The workshop is onĀ Sunday 28th June 2026 10.00 – 16.00

Spend the day learning traditional willow weaving techniques while creating your own beautiful and sustainable garden obelisk to take home.

Weather permitting, participants will also enjoy a visit to our Saille Garden to discover more about the sustainable and renewable qualities of willow, so please come suitably dressed for the outdoors.

A wonderful opportunity to slow down, learn a heritage craft, connect with nature and create something both practical and beautiful for your garden. ✨

Finding Us

Access the Craigdarragh Road from the A2 Belfast–Bangor carriageway. Follow the signs for Helen’s Bay.

Continue along Craigdarragh Road for approximately 0.8 miles, where you will see the Walled Garden on your left.

Take theĀ left-hand turnĀ at the 30mph speed limit and drive down theĀ temporary driveway. This will be clearly signposted.

Follow the lane straight ahead to reach the car park located directly outside the Walled Garden.
