Step into the heritage beauty of Old Mill House for our magical, hands-on day Willow Swallows and Swifts Workshop in the Walled Garden with talented local artist Heather McDermott.
In this relaxing and creative workshop, you’ll learn to craft elegant willow swallow and swift sculptures. These are beautiful pieces that add rustic charm to any garden, whether perched on a wall, nestled among borders, or gathered as a small flock. ✨
The workshop is on Sunday 8th March 2026 10.00 – 16.00
You’ll also have the chance to explore our Salley Garden to discover more about the sustainable qualities of willow, a renewable, living material deeply rooted in traditional craft. Please dress suitably for time spent outdoors. 🥾

Access the Craigdarragh Road from the A2 Belfast–Bangor carriageway. Follow the signs for Helen’s Bay.
Continue along Craigdarragh Road for approximately 0.8 miles, where you will see the Walled Garden on your left.
Proceed towards the 30mph speed limit. Take the left-hand turn at the sign and drive down the temporary driveway. This which will be clearly signposted.
Follow the lane straight ahead to reach the car park located directly outside the Walled Garden.
