If you’d love to impress your guests with homemade scones served on your own handwoven willow tension tray or perhaps channel your inner ‘Nigella’ with a beautiful charcuterie platter filled with artisan cheeses, cured meats, and seasonal fruits …. then this is the workshop for you! 🧀🍓🍐 Join us in the Walled Garden, Helen’s Bay, for a relaxed and creative Willow Tension Tray Workshop, where you’ll craft your own bespoke tray or platter using sustainable willow from our Salley Garden. 🌿
The workshop is on Sunday 22nd March 2026 10.00 – 16.00
You’ll spend the day with talented local willow artist Heather McDermott, who will guide you through the traditional weaving techniques needed to craft your own unique tension tray using freshly prepared willow.
This full day workshop is suitable for adults of all skill levels … no prior experience required, just a love of crafting and nature.

As restoration works are underway, the main entrance to Old Mill House may not be suitable for wheelchair users.

Access the Craigdarragh Road from the A2 Belfast–Bangor carriageway. Follow the signs for Helen’s Bay.
Continue along Craigdarragh Road for approximately 0.8 miles, where you will see the Walled Garden on your left.
Proceed towards the 30mph speed limit. Take the left-hand turn at the sign and drive down the temporary driveway. This which will be clearly signposted.
Follow the lane straight ahead to reach the car park located directly outside the Walled Garden.
