Step into the timeless charm of the Walled Garden for a magical day of traditional willow sculpture to weave a willow hare sculpture with talented willow artist Heather McDermott.

You will begin with a simple framework and gradually build the shape and character of your hare, choosing a pose that feels natural to you, from alert and upright to relaxed and playful. As you shape, layer, and bend the willow, you will learn the free form sculpture techniques that will bring your hare to life .

This workshop is perfect for beginners, no prior experience is required, just a little manual dexterity and a love of creating.

You will also visit the Salley Garden, weather permitting, to discover more about the beauty and sustainability of willow, so please come suitably dressed.

Finding us

Access the Craigdarragh Road from the A2 Belfast–Bangor carriageway. Follow the signs for Helen’s Bay.

Continue along Craigdarragh Road for approximately 0.8 miles, where you will see the Walled Garden on your left.

Proceed towards the 30mph speed limit and take the left-hand turn at the sign and drive down the temporary driveway.

Follow the lane straight ahead to reach the car park located directly outside the Walled Garden.
